the new moon review

well i finally saw new moon. after the horrible excuse for a movie called twilight, i wasn't too excited to see the second installment...that is until i saw the teaser. i was hooked. they dumped the blonde director lady, actually had cgi that didn't make you want to vomit, and best of all jacob cut his hair.

well...not until half way through the movie that is. the wig had to go. seriously, it was hideous.

i thought bella (or kristen stewart) looked absolutely gorgeous through out the movie. the subtle, earthy-tone make up was spot on, even if her acting wasn't.

um, edward. i'm not sure how i feel about the movie edward. the book edward stole my heart, but movie edward still has some work to do. perhaps he'll step it up in eclipse. he looked vampirish, but then again did he have to be so pale? yikes. this guy has NEVER seen the sun. and there's something about his squinty eyes that bugs...maybe if he didn't try so hard to be tormented in a painful and awkward way, i wouldn't complain.

jacob. it's funny how i didn't really like the book jacob. clarification = i liked his character, but i didn't like him for bella. but in this movie, it was all about jacob. every time they flashed a close up of those sad don't leave me bella wolf eyes, my heart sank because i knew bella would never love him. taylor stepped it up, acting was better (but not quite perfect) than the first...not to mention the abs (and they were perfect).

the wolfs. AWESOME. thank heavens they got a professional animation team with this movie because that could have been a total disaster. the wolfs rocked it. seriously they were the best part of the movie for me.

the mike scene. i loved mike at the movies, puking and making everything awkward. a great part of the book and movie.

the volturi. pretty cool in an evil ~ majorly creepy, way too red eyed way. i loved that dakota fanning was jane and i didn't even care. because in my mind i do care, but on screen i didn't. my favorite volturi part = the painting transforming into a flashback. so cool.

my biggest complaint ~ bella's ear-plugging why did edward leave me nightmare screeching. probably the most annoying sound i've ever heard.

and finally victoria. so glad they got a new actress for this role. even though she didn't say much, she didn't have to. she was EXACTLY the way i pictured her...that dark auburn flowing hair matched with classic beauty. perfect.

overall i thought it was a 100% total turn around from twilight. i'm considering buying new moon and forgetting they ever made twilight. either that or calling up the director of new moon and pleading with him that he redo the first one...just imagine how awesome that could have been...bummer.

Great review. Although I haven't seen it yet, I am waiting patiently for my husband to be available to take me. I have always been a Jacob fan. The scenes with him in them are always better, in the books and movie. Edward (In Twilight) was what I pictured in the books, that is why I never really liked him. Interesting, huh?

I don't see where I can make comments on Transformers so I will do it here. I absolutely %100 hated the entire thing! Not one thing did I like. Yes, I really thought it was that bad. On the other hand...I loved Star Trek...and even G.I. Joe was better!

Haven't seen New Moon, but I thought your review would be interesting coming from a true fan who has read more than this trilogy. And cuz I love you.

Reading Erica's comment about Transformers, I completely agree. I hated everything about that ridiculous movie. Disgusting, crude, embarassing, lame.

I LOVED this movie. It was fantastic. I really liked all of the casting that they did, and everything was all around better than Twilight, of course it was higher budget and had a different director (Catherine Hardwicke is mostly an independent film director) (they will have a different director for every one of these movies, unless they get Chris Weitz to direct Breaking Dawn which from what I hear might be 2 movies). I really am glad that Catherine made the first film though, even if it wasn't as good as it could have been, because she brought this franchise to the big screen, and it's possible that another director might not have given it the same chance, since they didn't know how HUGE it was going to be on the big screen. I didn't completely dislike Twilight, I bought it :) So my favorite new casting was the Volturi, I thought they were amazing, and brought it, total creeptastic. As for Victoria, she isn't a different actress than the first film, it's still Rachelle Lefevere (they just did better makeup and wardrobe--which they did for everyone in the film better), but for the 3rd movie, they recast, Bryce Dallas Howard, which they have already shot the entire film. Yes, I have read a lot on this topic. :) I really love Billy Burke, Bella's dad, he rocks it. I do also love Kristen Stewart (Bella), Robert Pattinson (Edward) and Taylor Lautner (Jacob), and all of the other casting was great. Taylor did an amazing job getting ripped for this film. Rosalie was my only complaint on casting in the first film, and I thought she was a lot better in this installment. No wonder that they made $473.8M for New Moon in the FIRST Week (they made $380M for Twilight in FOUR months). People have noticed a major difference. I think it would be very cool if they redid Twilight too, but I don't think that they will.

transformers: i thought it was good from the plot stand point. as far as the extra stuff (there was a lot of little stuff that was quite vulgar) i wish that wasn't there. i did however, love the plot and the transformers themselves rock. the first one was definitely better and that's a bummer cause i really was hoping the second would be as good.

new moon: wow elizabeth i guess you did read a lot about it! yeah i guess i didn't really pay attention to the victoria actress compared to the first one as far as her face. i just remember her hair in twilight was strawberry blond in new moon it was a perfect dark auburn like i imagined. i also knew in the back of my mind that they had recast her part ~ obviously it's for eclipse and not new moon which i failed to realize. ANYWAY i really liked it like i said ~ my only complaints are on the acting of the three main characters...sometimes it just didn't fly with me. but i'll buy it!

I totally agree. New Moon was awesome! Twilight had its moments but would have been way better with chris as director and more money. Edward better act more romantic in Eclipse, he needs to tone down the tortured soul act, it is totally overshadowing any other personality trait. He should also get ripped like taylor did cause now he just looks weak in comparison. I am glad they recast Victoria, I believe there is a reason she didn't speak much in New Moon, because when she talks its cheesy and annoying because she is not that great of an actress. Bryce Dallas Howard seems more classy for some reason and I am excited to see her Victoria in Eclipse.
